I work from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and travel for the rest – launch pads, test stands, air shows, museum floors, briefings, conventions, and so forth.

The aerospace industry is rushing full speed ahead right now, and I am so here for it.
Building the Spaceport of all Spaceports
On August 25, 2026, SpaceX and Louisiana announced Starbase Louisiana, a Starship spaceport on about 125,000 acres of Vermilion Parish marsh near Pecan Island. Investing up to $100 billion, construction is aimed to begin in 2027, first launch targeted for 2029. It’s billed as the largest private launch site on Earth. This section follows that construction process and the people it impacts most.
Building the Space Academy
On August 28, 2026, the President signed Executive Order 14423 establishing a Presidential Commission to design the United States Space Academy — a proposed NASA-led federal academy for technical education, leadership, and public service aimed at NASA, the Space Force, and the wider space workforce. This section follows that build-out: the commission, the location fight, and whatever the academy shapes up to look like, Starfleet or otherwise.
We Choose to Return to the Moon and Do the Other Things
Following the footsteps of the Apollo moon missions, Artemis is the United States’ return ticket. Artemis II put a crew around the Moon in 2026, and on-orbit refueling missions are next in 2027. This section follows that campaign and the science flights supporting NASA’s greater mission overall with some historical reflections on how we got here.
The Growing Space Economy
The new space race is also a market with launch cadence as a business, Starlink and the other constellations, ports for transport, growing Starbases, and defense contracting. This section is the money and the jobs around the hardware — who is hiring, what is being built to sell, and what that looks like from the ground.
A New Era of Nuclear Energy
On and off Earth, nuclear is getting smaller and more fuel efficient with modular reactors and microreactors aimed at grids, bases, and data centers. Come 2028, NASA’s Space Reactor-1 Freedom is meant to fly a fission reactor toward Mars and prove nuclear-electric propulsion. This section follows the progress of nuclear energy developments on all fronts.
Cosmic Century Adventures
Sometimes, we just need to have fun and enjoy all the aerospace adventure that’s out there. Personal side quests I thought would be interesting to share.
